This policy explains what can and cannot be refunded on Duel, how to ask for a refund, and what happens to your account while a refund or dispute is open. It applies alongside the Payment, Deposit & Withdrawal Policy and the Terms of Service.

1. Scope

Duel is a skill-competition platform. When you deposit, the money becomes account balance; when you enter a paid competition, that balance is committed as an entry. This policy covers refunds of deposits and refunds of competition entries. It does not cover competition outcomes — a lost competition is not a refundable event.

2. Competition entries

  • An entry is not refundable once its competition has been resolved and settled, whatever the outcome.
  • If a competition is cancelled or voided before it is resolved, the entry hold is released in full and the funds return to your available balance automatically.
  • If a competition fails to start, or a technical fault on Duel's side prevents it from being completed fairly, the competition is voided and every entry hold is released in full.
  • If you leave or abandon a competition that still runs to a result, the entry stands and is not refundable.

3. Deposits

Deposited funds are yours to play with or withdraw, so most situations do not need a refund at all: you can request a withdrawal of your available balance at any time under the normal review process.

A deposit refund — returning the money to your original payment method instead of crediting your balance — is handled at Duel's discretion. Where a refund is granted, it is processed by reversing the corresponding ledger credit. If the refunded amount is no longer available in your balance, Duel may decline the refund or recover the shortfall from future balance.

  • Unspent balance: a refund request for a deposit you have not entered into any competition is the easiest case to approve.
  • Part-spent balance: Duel may refund the unspent portion and decline the remainder.
  • Committed funds: amounts held for an in-progress competition or a pending withdrawal cannot be refunded until those commitments resolve.

4. How to request a refund

Email support@getduel.app from the address on your account with the date, amount and reason for the request. Include your Duel username. We review every request by hand against our payment provider's records and your account ledger, and reply with the decision in writing.

Where a refund is granted, it is returned to the original payment method. Duel does not refund to a different card, account or person.

5. Chargebacks and payment disputes

Please always contact us first. Filing a chargeback or dispute with your bank or card issuer instead of contacting support may:

  • reverse the corresponding balance credit, which can leave your balance negative
  • suspend real-money functionality on your account while the dispute is open
  • trigger a review of competitions funded by the disputed deposit
  • result in restriction or closure of the account for repeated abuse

Refunds, disputes and reversals reported by the payment provider are recorded against the original deposit so the ledger stays consistent with the provider's record.

6. Refund abuse

Duel may decline refund requests and restrict accounts where a pattern of abuse exists — for example repeated deposits refunded after the funds were committed to competitions, refunds requested to unwind losing entries, or refunds claimed through chargebacks after playing. Accounts used for money movement described in the Anti-Money Laundering & Identity Verification Policy are not eligible for refunds and may be closed.
