Self-exclusion lets you shut off your own access to real-money competitions on Duel. Requests are treated as a priority and are never questioned or discouraged.

1. How to request self-exclusion

The fastest way is in the app: open Profile, then Account & Safety, choose a break length or Permanent, and confirm. It takes effect immediately. You can also email support@getduel.app from the address on your account with the word "self-exclusion" and the length you want. Duel will confirm the exclusion in writing, record it against your account, and apply it server-side.

Self-exclusion requests are processed by our support team and applied to your account on our servers. Once applied, an exclusion cannot be shortened or lifted before it ends.

2. Available periods

  • Cooling-off break: 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days.
  • Extended: 6 months or 1 year.
  • Permanent: no end date. Permanent exclusions applied in the app cannot be reversed.

3. What self-exclusion blocks

While self-exclusion is active, Duel blocks:

  • deposits
  • entry into any paid competition, public or private
  • accepting a private-match invitation
  • receiving new invitations to paid competitions

What remains available:

  • withdrawal of your available balance
  • your transaction history
  • free practice play, unless you ask for full account closure instead
  • support contact

Any competition already in progress when the exclusion is applied is completed and settled under the normal rules, and any hold is released or settled accordingly.

4. Your balance

Self-exclusion does not forfeit your money. You can request a withdrawal of your available balance during the exclusion, subject to the normal identity verification and review process.

5. Reinstatement

  • A fixed-period exclusion is not lifted early. It ends only after the period expires.
  • When a cooling-off break ends, real-money access is restored automatically.
  • Duel may apply a short cooling-off delay between your reinstatement request and restoring real-money access.
  • A permanent exclusion is not lifted.

6. Circumvention

Do not attempt to bypass an exclusion by opening another account, using someone else's account, or depositing through another person. Duel will close accounts used to circumvent an exclusion and will apply the exclusion to them.

7. Full account closure

If you would rather close your account entirely, use Delete Account in Account & Safety, or say so in your email. Duel will close it after any balance has been withdrawn, and will keep only the records it is required to keep, including the self-exclusion record itself.

8. Support resources

Free, confidential help and warning signs are listed in the Responsible Gaming Policy. The National Problem Gambling Helpline is available 24/7 at 1-800-522-4700.

Exclusion records are kept for as long as needed to honour the exclusion and for at least five years after it ends, so we can prevent new accounts being opened during an active exclusion.
