Duel is operated by Duel LLC and treats anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing obligations seriously. This policy explains how we verify who our players are, what we monitor, what activity is prohibited, and what happens when something looks wrong.

1. Purpose

Real-money accounts can be attractive to people who want to disguise the origin of money. Duel runs identity verification, transaction monitoring and account controls so that deposits come from lawful sources, payouts go to their rightful owner, and the platform is not used to move money for anyone else. These controls are required by the card networks and payment providers we work with, and by applicable law.

2. Identity verification (KYC)

  • Identity verification must be complete before a withdrawal is processed, as set out in the Payment, Deposit & Withdrawal Policy.
  • Verification confirms your legal name, date of birth and address, and confirms you meet the age and location requirements for real-money play.
  • We may ask for a government-issued photo ID and, where needed, proof of address or additional documentation.
  • The name on your linked payout account must match your verified legal name.
  • Duel may re-verify an account at any time — for example after a change of payout details, a large activity increase, or a provider or regulator request.

One person may hold one account. Accounts operated for or by another person fail verification.

3. Source of funds

You may only deposit funds that are lawfully yours and that come from a lawful source. We may ask you to explain or document the origin of a deposit or the intended destination of a payout, and real-money activity may be paused while that review is open.

4. Transaction monitoring

Deposits, entries, prizes, withdrawals and refunds are recorded in an append-only ledger and reviewed for patterns that do not fit normal play, such as:

  • deposits followed quickly by withdrawal requests with little or no play
  • repeated deposits just below review thresholds (structuring)
  • funds moving between accounts in a coordinated way, including through private matches
  • unusually large or rapid activity for the account's history
  • payment methods, devices or payout accounts shared across unrelated accounts

5. Prohibited activity

The following are strictly prohibited on Duel:

  • depositing or withdrawing funds on behalf of another person, or accepting funds from a third party into your account
  • using the platform to transfer, layer or disguise the origin of money
  • using stolen, shared or unauthorised payment methods
  • opening or operating accounts for someone who is excluded, self-excluded, or located where real-money play is unavailable
  • providing false, forged or borrowed identity documents
  • evading review thresholds by splitting transactions or accounts

6. What happens when something looks wrong

  • We may pause deposits, entries, or withdrawals on an account while a review is open, where legally permitted.
  • We may request documents or explanations; failing to respond or providing false information leads to permanent closure.
  • Where funds cannot be shown to be lawful, we may reverse credits, void affected competitions, and withhold payouts pending the outcome of our review.
  • Where activity suggests a crime, we may report it to the relevant authorities and to our payment providers, and close the account.

We apply these measures proportionately and keep you informed of the status of your account where we legally can. Some reviews and their outcomes are confidential by law, and in those cases we may not be able to tell you why an action was taken.

7. Records and retention

Verification records, transaction records and account files are kept for the period required by applicable law — at least five years where such a requirement applies — so that Duel can evidence how funds moved through the platform.

8. Sanctions and restricted parties

Duel does not offer real-money play to persons who appear on applicable sanctions or restricted-party lists, or who are located in jurisdictions where real-money play is unavailable under the Jurisdiction & Eligibility Policy.

9. Your information

Documents and information you provide for verification are handled under the Privacy Policy. Questions about this policy, or a report you want to make, go to support@getduel.app.
