This page explains how to exercise privacy rights over the information Duel holds about you, and what happens after you submit a request.

1. What you can request

  • Access: a copy of the personal information Duel holds about you.
  • Know: confirmation of whether Duel processes your information, the categories involved, and who receives it.
  • Correction: fixing information that is inaccurate.
  • Deletion: deleting information Duel is not required to keep.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing: Duel does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.
  • Non-retaliation: Duel will not restrict, penalise or degrade your account because you made a privacy request.

2. How to submit a request

Email support@getduel.app from the address on your account, state which request you are making, and include your Duel username. If you are an authorised agent acting for an account holder, say so and include proof of authorisation.

3. How requests are verified

Duel verifies that a request comes from the account holder before acting on it, normally by confirming control of the account email and matching details already on the account. Duel will not ask you to send identification documents by email, and will not collect new information for verification beyond what is necessary.

4. What cannot be deleted

Some records must be retained even after a deletion request, and Duel will tell you which ones apply:

  • deposit, withdrawal, prize, fee and ledger records kept as financial records
  • competition and settlement records needed to keep the ledger accurate
  • identity-verification outcomes required for compliance
  • self-exclusion records, so an exclusion cannot be erased and bypassed
  • fraud, chargeback, security and integrity records
  • anything a legal obligation or an open legal claim requires us to keep

Where information must be kept, Duel limits its use to the purpose that requires retention.

5. Timing and appeals

Duel aims to acknowledge a request promptly and to respond with the outcome. If a request is declined in whole or in part, the response will explain why and how to ask for that decision to be reconsidered.

We respond within 45 days, and may extend once by a further 45 days where permitted, telling you why. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying with "Appeal" in the subject line; we answer appeals within 60 days. An authorised agent may act for you with your signed permission.

6. More detail
